For Research Nutrition News Focus has a bunch of concise summaries of recent findings in nutritional science, so it makes for quick reading, but I don't agree with some of their positions.
The Natural Health Line has a host of articles.
Despite a New Age bias, Dr. Joseph Mercola has a lot of good articles you can search here.
Richters HerbLetter has more complete summaries of peer reviewed journal articles, but it is time consuming to search.
Buffalo Grove Chiropractic Center has compiled the best database of ENTIRE peer-reviewed journal articles on nutrition of anyone, anywhere. Again, somewhat cumbersome to navigate, though.
The American Botanical Council has a fabulous library of articles and resources, but much of it requires a subscription to access.
Dr. Michael T. Murray has some very informative newletters on various topics.
Delicious Living has easy-to-search information on topics including Health Centers, Health Concerns, a Vitamin Guide, a Diet Finder, Herbal Remedies, Homeopathy, Drug/Supplement Interactions, and Foodnotes.
Supplement Watch has some excellent summaries of various categories of health issues with information on relevant supplements useful for those conditions. For membership fee, you can also search for information on specific supplements, and read reviews on specific products.
Holistic Online is one of the easiest to search databases I have seen of articles on dozens of topics related to general wellness.
HerbMed has a beautifully organized database of research and information on herbs, searchable by scientific or common name.
EMBASE boasts the ability to search more than 16 million validated biomedical and pharmacological records.
Supplements. There are obviously a lot of good products out there, from a host of different companies. There are also a lot of bad ones too. Nonetheless, I will say that I am convinced that the company with the best overall approach to supplementation, the best science behind it, and the best products, is Market America. The reason is simple: armed with the best scientists in the fields of nutrition, wellness, anti-aging and sports medicine, they only want the best, and so they broker a relationship with the best companies who have it. Unlike most companies that have a few products or who have only their own line of products, Market America can get the best wherever it exists, or work with a company to make it the best.
One excellent way of measuring your nutritional needs is called a Nutri-Physical. This is an online questionnaire that assesses your ailments in the context of your dietary intake, age, sex, etc. It will then give you a recommended supplemental regimen that is customized to your needs. Click here to try it out.
Right eating. Hallelujah Acres has set the standard for what the best diet is for anyone 70-80% raw food, and the elimination of the five whites: sugar, flour, salt, dairy, and meat. All these complicated diets out there that talk about protein, carbohydrates, blood types, etc., are at best in sufficient, and at worst, foolish. The philospphy of putting live foods in you that nature prepared for you is incontestable. And they are even gathering the evidence to back that claim up.
Healing. We cant talk about wellness, without considering the spiritual side of healing. John G. Lake Ministries (named for an early 20th Century healing pastor) is a ministry that is so far ahead of the pack that I wont even mention their success rate that their trained healers have achieved. Check them out yourself with an open mind. | |
